Our Story
Hughes Supply was a residential electrical supply distributor founded by Clarence Hughes and his son, Russell, in Orlando, FL in 1928. For the next two decades, we weathered the Great Depression and World War II with slow but steady expansion in Florida.
In response to growing demand from customers who performed electrical and plumbing work, Hughes Supply added plumbing supplies to its distribution in the 1940s. Throughout the next 20 years, we expanded even further in Florida.
In 1970, Hughes Supply went public, offering 350,000 shares of common stock at an initial price of $17.60 per share. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in 1978 and threw quite a party! We hosted a trade show for customers and vendors. It was the largest show of its type organized by a single company in the industry…a distinction we still hold today.
Up to this point, nearly all of our business was in residential construction in Florida. But knowing housing starts can be unpredictable, we spent the next few decades diversifying our products, expanding geographically through acquisitions and targeting commercial construction. By the mid 2000s, we were in the Southeast, Midwest and Pacific regions.
In January 2006, Hughes Supply was acquired by The Home Depot’s HD Supply division. For the next five years, we continued to provide trusted service under the HD Supply trade name.
On September 12, 2011, we joined Hajoca Corporation’s diverse family and reclaimed our namesake. We’re proud of the Hughes Supply legacy. We’re proud to call you family. Profit Center Manager
Chase Gibson
Chase got started in the industry right after graduating college from Sam Houston State University in 2016 with a degree in Business Management. He began his career working at Moore Supply in Conroe, Texas for 5 years before joining the Management Development Program with Hajoca in 2021. After 2 years of working in Atlanta to complete his training, he became the manager of Hughes Supply in Brunswick in April of 2023. He is passionate about taking care of customers, making sure that everyone feels comfortable coming into the branch, & that everyone leaves with a smile on their face! Chase & his wife Brittany love traveling, reading, hiking, & enjoying new places with their 4 dogs & 2 cats.
Operations Manager
Preston Pugh
Preston joined the Hughes Supply Brunswick team in April of 2024 after 8 years of working in the industry in South Carolina. He brings to the team a wealth of knowledge on the Operations & Warehouse side of the business. As a former member of the Army, he is passionate about operational excellence & having the right processes in place to take care of our customers! Preston & his wife Amanda are busy keeping up with their 2 kids. On the weekends, you can find Preston working on their land, hanging out with his family, or somewhere on his side-by-side!

Cole Bobo
Cole joined our team in July 2025 and has already made a big impact with his strong work ethic and reliability. He first came to the Golden Isles back in 2013 to attend the College of Coastal Georgia, where he earned his Business degree. When he’s not at work, you’ll probably find him with his wife, Anna, chasing after their energetic little boy! They love spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking, fishing, hitting the beach, or exploring new places together. Next time you’re in the office, ask Charles what he calls Cole…he’s got some pretty funny nicknames!
Inside Sales
Trey Godley
Trey joined the Hughes Supply team in Brunswick after 15 years of working in the industry in a similar role. He brings a wealth of product, market, & customer knowledge to the team that is invaluable to providing great customer service for our customers. Being from Glynn County, he knows just about everybody in town & treats everyone with respect & kindness. Most folks ask for him specifically because they know he will get the job done right & get it done quickly. Trey is a self-proclaimed simple man & if you are looking for him outside of work, he is either reading a book, shooting a 72 on the golf course, or relaxing at home with a cup of coffee.
Ouside Sales
Paxton Wood
Paxton is the newest member of the team, coming onboard in November of 2025. He brings over two years of industry experience and has quickly immersed himself in learning more about our customers and market. Originally from Alabama, Paxton followed the rodeo trail after high school to Texas A&M University, where he competed on the rodeo team and earned a degree in Industrial Distribution. Outside of work, you’ll find him chasing that elusive monster buck on his family’s land in Alabama, fishing at a local honey hole, or cheering on his beloved Aggies.

Jonathan Godley
Jonathan aka JP joined the Hughes Supply team in March of 2024 after graduating from Coastal College of Georgia with a degree in Business & working at a few of the local Country Clubs in the Golden Isles. If you are curious, he is the younger brother of Trey & they do argue like it! Jonathan brings an energetic attitude, contagious smile, & a consistent demeanor to the team that is vital to helping customers. He is passionate about helping people & treating everyone with respect. His main goal is to make sure that everyone leaves our location with not only what they need for their next project but also with a smile! In his spare time you can find him on the golf course, hanging out with his friends, watching college sports, or losing to Chase in H-O-R-S-E.

Glynn Blount
Glynn started with Hughes in February of 2025! He brings with him almost a decade of knowledge in the construction industry. Glynn is a Glynn county native, graduating from Glynn Academy in 2013. His knowledge of the market and the people who live here has provided him with a solid foundation to build his reputation & bring value to the business. Glynn & his wife, Ellie, have 2 beautiful little girls that they are doing their best to keep up with! When not at the office, there is a 90% chance Glynn is in 1 of 3 places...with his girls, golfing, or hunting!
Warehouse
Charles Ashby
Charles is the Earl Campbell of the Hughes Supply team. Reliable, consistent, team player, & will not be out-worked by anyone! Charles joined the team in 2021 after over a decade of experience in the industry. He is a retired member of the United States Naval Force & he has plenty of stories to tell about his time on the ship if you want to hear them. He is the mastermind behind most of the creative ideas that happen in the warehouse & keeping the spirits of everyone on the team elevated. You won’t meet a kinder soul than Mr. Charles. He enjoys spending time with his wife, watching the news, & working on his property!
Office Admin
Claudia Shelton
Miss Claudia has been in the industry for 30+ years & brings with her a wealth of knowledge on the PVF side of the business. She semi-retired a few years ago but re-joined the team part-time when she got bored & missed the team. She works on most of the billing, invoicing, reconciling, & almost everything that goes on behind the scenes for everyone. We certainly can not operate without her, she is invaluable! In her spare time, she loves spoiling her cats, trying to score a 300 in her weekly bowling leagues, & watching her Dawgs win!
Office Manager
Jupiter
Jupiter aka Jupie is the real boss around the office. She is a 4-year-old border collie that you will see almost every day in the office. She loves being petted, treats, & most importantly, playing fetch with her ball. If you really want the best pricing, she is the one that can make that happen for you…just make sure to bring a ball with you.

Ana
Jupiter was having a hard time keeping everyone at the office in line, so she hired her some reinforcements...Ana is the baby of the office, if you consider being 100 pounds & 6 feet tall on your hind legs a baby! She is the gentle giant that loves playing keep away, getting her belly scratched, and grumbling when she wants someone to play with her. She is still working on the whole "No" thing, but we love her anyway.
